Teach Me Henna – Virtual Workshops
Henna is a global art traditionally practiced in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Though many people
think of henna as Indian, before the modern expansion of henna, Indian was the last area to use
henna. Our first evidence of henna use was in Crete, Jericho, and Turkey nearly 8000 years
ago. Henna traveled throughout Northern Africa, the Mediterranean, and Persia before finally
arriving in Arabia and India about 2500 years ago. This means we have evidence of henna in
Greece, Italy and Spain a thousand years BEFORE seeing it in India!
This expansive use of henna through many different cultures, religions, and peoples has created
a rich and layered history of this gorgeous body art.
Traditional uses of henna as both a right of passage and as a cosmetic vary wildly throughout
the world. Henna is truly a global phenomenon that everyone can enjoy.
We offer a variety of virtual workshops for your different needs including our two most popular.
Henna 101 and Henna Around the World.
Henna 101
This is a general workshop that focuses on the art of creating henna designs. It’s a great
introduction to the art form of henna, that includes a brief history of henna.
Henna Around the World
This workshop focuses on the three most currently-used henna styles; Indian, Moroccan, and
Arabic. Time permitting we also cover Persian henna. After a brief history of henna, we create a
design from each of these henna styles.
East Asian Henna
The workshop focuses solely on creating East Asian (Indian/Pakistani) style henna design. After
a brief history of henna, we learn the formula for creating traditional Indian henna.
Moroccan Henna
The workshop focuses solely on creating Moroccan style henna design. After a brief history of
henna, we learn the formula for creating traditional Moroccan henna.
Custom Workshop
We can create a custom workshop focusing on whatever theme you would like. We’ve done a
variety of custom themes including Feminine Empowerment, May the 4th Be With You, Life
Under the Sea, and Harry Potter. We always include a brief overview of henna and follow up
with designs specifically for your theme.

Learn to henna!
This fantastic DIY kit contains EVERYTHING needed to do gorgeous henna
designs. It is focused on the beginning henna artist, and there is no artistic talent needed to
complete a fabulous henna design!
Step-by-step instructions along with a comprehensive step-by-step video so students can follow
along at their own pace.
This is especially fun because it’s not a one-time activity and can provide hours of
entertainment! A student can do between 10-30 designs (depending on the size of those
designs).
Each kit is packaged in a cute little case and can be sent directly to the school or to students
individually for an additional charge.
