From the time of slavery, through the Civil Rights Movement, to Black Lives Matter, music has been an important element historically for Black Americans and other People of Color. These songs passed through generations, express moments and movements of the time, and show the importance that music and song have played in social justice.
All brought to you by the extraordinary voice of Brandon Martin. Brandon is a multi-genre vocalist, composer/arranger, conductor, and music educator who is currently a performer with the Voices of Liberty at Epcot as well as with the Dapper Dans Barbershop Quartet at Magic Kingdom. Brandon has performed at Carnegie Hall and as a contestant on Showtime at the Apollo. In his program, he includes songs of protest (“Freedom Train”) and songs of hope and redemption (“Glory” by John Legend, and “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley) to present a full educational and inspirational program that focuses on social justice as told through song. This is a program with a purpose and a focus on current social justice.
